President Radev: Firefighting equipment should be purchased for the Air Force, not the Ministry of Interior

Firefighting equipment should be purchased for the Air Force, where an organisation and crew are already in place, rather than for the Ministry of the Interior. This view was expressed by President Rumen Radev, who attended the graduation ceremony for officers from the Georgi Rakovski Military Academy, as reported by BNR's Dobromir Videv.

'Those in power must finally decide whether to start from scratch in the Ministry of the Interior and build capabilities there, which will take much longer — at least six to seven years — and be more expensive and dangerous, or to strengthen and develop the existing capabilities of the Air Force,' said the head of state. He called for such a decision to be made, as the primary function of the state is to ensure security and neutralise all internal and external threats.

'When the state fails to guarantee the health and lives of its citizens, or to preserve the integrity of their homes, property and livelihoods, trust in that authority inevitably erodes — especially when people see that action in this direction is feigned, or that the authorities are absent during severe crises,' Rumen Radev warned.
