Firefighting continues in Pirin Mountain, BNR correspondent Keti Trencheva reports. At a briefing, Commissioner Valentin Vassilev, regional director of the fire department in Blagoevgrad, pointed out that currently there is one serious front - above the marble quarries of the village of Ilindentsi, which is near the territory of the Pirin National Park.
Currently, two helicopters are extinguishing the fire from the air in this critical area and three teams of the fire department, forestry and volunteers are working on the ground. Fire trucks are positioned above the villages of Ploski and Lilyanovo, ready to respond if the wind picks up again. Two Swedish aircraft fought the fire until noon. There is no threat to populated areas.
