Varna exhibition traces the footsteps of Bulgaria’s endangered species

Until 29 August 2025, residents of Varna and visitors to the Black Sea city can explore the travelling exhibition, 'Traces of Disappearance', at the local Natural History Museum. The exhibition is part of a campaign dedicated to protecting Bulgaria’s rare and endangered animal species.

On display are detailed casts of footprints left by these animals. Each print tells a story — not only about the species itself, but also about how human activity is altering its habitat. The collection includes tracks from the brown bear, European bison, wild horse, wolf, chamois, mouflon, fallow deer, lynx, the saker falcon and vulture.

Having toured numerous towns and cities across the country, the exhibition aims to engage more people in wildlife conservation, according to Bulgarian National Radio’s Varna bureau.

It is open to visitors from Tuesday to Sunday, between 10:00 and 17:00.
