International Regatta "Cor Caroli" starts in Varna

The International Regatta "Cor Caroli" starts today at 1:00 PM in the Varna Bay, Varna Municipality has reported. The competition, which will last until August 18, is being held for the 25th consecutive year in the days surrounding the holiday of the city of Varna - August 15.

The "Cor Caroli" regatta was founded in 1992 in memory of Capt. Georgi Georgiev - the first Bulgarian to participate in the transatlantic regatta OSTAR in 1976, after which he made the first Bulgarian circumnavigation, departing from Havana on December 20, 1976 and docking there again.
