Weather forecast for 16 August

The end of the week will be warm but windy, especially at sea

On Saturday minimum temperatures will range from 14°C to 22°C, around 17°C in Sofia. The day will be largely sunny, with some cumulus cloud building over the western half of the country during the afternoon. Moderate winds from the east-north-east will at times strengthen in eastern areas. Afternoon highs will reach between 30°C and 35°C, with around 30°C expected in Sofia.


Along the Black Sea coast, it will be mostly sunny but windy. A moderate to strong east-north-easterly wind will persist. Daytime highs will range from 27°C to 30°C, with sea temperatures around 26°C. The sea will be rough with waves reaching three to four metres, which will make swimming unsafe.


In the mountains, it will be sunny with afternoon cumulus cloud development. A moderate to strong northeasterly wind will blow. The maximum temperature will be around 25°C at 1,200 metres and around 17°C at 2,000 metres.


It will be mostly sunny on Sunday, but clouds will build in the afternoon over western areas, bringing showers and thunderstorms. Winds will remain moderate from the east-north-east. Maximum temperatures will again be between 30°C and 35°C.
