In the extremely difficult and rocky terrain above the village of Ploski, with a slope of over 70 degrees, the third outbreak of the fire in Pirin was put under control last night, the Bulgarian National Radio correspondent in Blagoevgrad Keti Trencheva has reported. This was also the worst outbreak of the fire in Pirin, which covered over 45 thousand decares. Today, about 100 employees from the fire departments, forestry companies, military and volunteers continue to extinguish smouldering logs in the huge perimeter affected by the fire.

According to the regional director of the fire department, Commissioner Valentin Vassilev, a huge part of the forests in the area have been completely destroyed.

Firefighters have also extinguished fires along the perimeter and many volunteers have come to help. Last night's rain and lower temperatures have also helped prevent new fires.
