A statement from the Road Safety Institute, sent to the media, reports that the risk of dying on the road in Bulgaria is 2.5 times higher than the average for the European Union. Data for July and the first half of August show that the number of victims of accidents has not decreased compared to last year and in August the number is even higher.

The institute's statement points out that there are no visible results in road safety, despite the calls of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov three months ago. The head of the Institute, Bogdan Milchev, recommends that the efforts of the responsible institutions urgently focus on the shortcomings in the organization of their work because there is a feeling of systemic irresponsibility.
