Twice as many drug laboratories and cultivation areas discovered by authorities

Nearly twice as many laboratories and cultivation areas for the production and cultivation of narcotic substances were discovered within a month, BGNES reports. In July this year their number was 40, while in the previous month – 22.

Over 1 ton of cannabis and 465 kg of marijuana were seized in the period July 1-31, 2025, shows the monthly analysis of data on the work of the Specialized Interdepartmental Unit of the Prosecutor's Office and the Ministry of Interior to assist in the investigation of this type of crime, the prosecution informs. 785 people were arrested for crimes related to the production, processing, acquisition, possession and distribution of narcotic substances.

The Prosecutor's Office also informs about the detention of 51 illegally residing third-country nationals, as well as 99 people for illegally transporting people across the border and assisting foreigners to reside in the country.

In July this year, 317 court orders for crimes related to drugs and 83 – related to migrants, entered into force.
