Cooler weather expected on Friday

During the night, the weather will be mostly clear with a light southerly wind.

A cold atmospheric front will pass over the country on Friday. Winds will shift from the west-northwest and will strengthen. Cumulonimbus clouds will develop in the afternoon hours, bringing short but locally intense rain showers and thunderstorms to many areas. Hail is also possible. Maximum temperatures will range from 28°C–31°C in parts of Western Bulgaria to 35°C–37°C in the Upper Thracian Plain and the Ludogorie region, in Sofia around 29°C.

It will be mostly sunny along the Black Sea coast, with temporary cloud increases in the afternoon. Brief showers and thunderstorms are expected in the northern portion of the Black Sea coast. There will be a moderate southerly wind. Daytime highs will be between 27°C and 30°C. The seawater temperature is 26°C–27°C. Sea state 2–3 on the Beaufort scale.

Cumulonimbus clouds will develop in the mountains, bringing short but locally intense rainfall and thunderstorms in many areas. Hail is also possible. The most intense weather activity is expected in the central part of the Balkan Mountains. It will be windy, with a moderate to temporarily strong wind from the west-northwest. The maximum temperature at an altitude of 1,200 meters will be around 22°C, at 2,000 meters – about 16°C.
