Bronze statuette of a goddess from the Greco-Roman pantheon discovered on Kaliakra

An archaeological expedition led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Boni Petrunova – Director of the National Museum of History, discovered a massive bronze statuette of a goddess from the Greco-Roman pantheon. The artifact was found in residential premises in the so-called "Golden Sector" of Cape Kaliakra, the NMH team announced.

The archaeological excavations on Cape Kaliakra began on August 5 and a few days ago gold coins of Justinian I and Anastasius I were found. The coins were found in the so-called "Quarter of the Rich" of Kaliakra. It is assumed that they are part of a collective treasure that was collected over time, and are proof that the aristocracy of Kaliakra lived in this quarter, BNR Varna recalls.
