As of January 1, 2026, the minimum monthly wage should be 1,213 BGN (EUR 620.2), up from the current 1,077 BGN (EUR 550.66), said Luboslav Kostov, Chief Economist at the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria (CITUB), in an interview with the Bulgarian National Radio. This represents an increase of 12.63%.

The trade union representatives find it difficult to understand why the draft government decree for setting the new wage has still not been published, given that all the necessary data from the national statistics are already available.

“We are concerned because there’s less than a week left until the deadline. The law clearly states that by September 1 there must be a decree from the Council of Ministers proposing the new minimum wage for public discussion. Based on the data, it should be 1,213 BGN or 620 EUR”, commented Luboslav Kostov.
