Serbia extradites to Bulgaria Nikola Nikolov-Pascal wanted by the police for customs fraud

Nikola Nikolov-Pascal was handed over by Serbia to Bulgarian authorities at the Kalotina border crossing, BNT reported, adding that police escorted him to a hospital in Sofia for examination. The Interior Ministry and the prosecutor's office are not providing any information about the extradition, BNT also reported.

Known as the "Cigarette King", Nikola Nikolov, nicknamed Pascal, was indicted in absentia last spring in a case of an organized criminal group for smuggling, in which former customs director Petya Bankova and former Interior Ministry Secretary General Zhivko Kotsev were also charged. He was detained in Belgrade last year, first held in local custody and then under house arrest, BNR Horizon reports.
