President Rumen Radev has signed the decree appointing Miroslav Rashkov Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior, the presidential press service has announced.

Rashkov, until now acting Secretary General, was nominated for the position by the government. “In fulfilment of his functional duties he provides very good interaction among the Interior Ministry services, as well as with the judiciary and other state authorities,” – this is how Interior Minister Daniel Mitov has motivated the nomination.

Mirtoslav Rashkov will be the first Secretary General appointed to the post after the resignation of Zhivko Kotsev in the spring of last year after a customs corruption scandal.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior is the highest professional position within the ministry. Their job is to plan, organize and control the main activities of the Interior Ministry and to be in charge of their implementation; to organize and control the interaction between the ministry and other state bodies and organizations.
