Lightning sparks wildfire in Rila Monastery Nature Park

Firefighting teams, workers from the Rila Monastery Nature Park and volunteers joined efforts to extinguish a fire that broke out yesterday afternoon in the Ravna area, located at an altitude of 1,800 meters.

The fire was once again caused by a lightning strike, similar to the one that occurred in the same area about a month ago, which took weeks to fully extinguish.

The blaze is far from the Rila Monastery and is near the alpine zone of the mountain. Three firefighting units from the regional departments in Rila, Dupnitsa and Kyustendil, along with personnel from a private forestry company, are currently on site.
