In August 2025, Bulgaria’s annual inflation rate stood at 5.3%, same as in July, according to data from the National Statistical Institute. Monthly inflation in August dropped to 0.1%, compared to 1.7% in July.
Inflation measured from the beginning of the year (August 2025 to December 2024) reached 4.2%. The average annual inflation for the period September 2024 – August 2025 is 3.4%. Based on the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP), the annual inflation in August 2025 stood at 3.5%. The HICP is a comparable measure of inflation across EU member states. It is one of the criteria for price stability and for Bulgaria's accession to the eurozone.
