The Balkan Mountain, ceramics and the plum fruit are the emblem of the Troyan region. And the locals know how to preserve their traditions. The event that marks the end of the agricultural year at the end of each September – the Bulgarian Plum Festival – proves it. The 32nd edition of the event begins on September 20 and will continue until September 22 in the town of Troyan and the village of Oreshak.

It began at the National Exhibition of Folk Crafts in the village of Oreshak in 1993. Since 1997, the holiday has been held in parallel in the town of Troyan.

"This is a tradition with taste and mood, which we are looking forward to," says the deputy mayor for education, culture, social and youth activities of the Troyan municipality, Veronika Todorova, to Plamen Hristov, correspondent of the Bulgarian National Radio in Lovech.

Every year the festival gathers thousands of guests and locals and this year it will offer a rich program dedicated to local culture, crafts, plum products and music.

Concerts, "Street of Crafts", a competition for the best homemade plum brandy and a plum feast, a meeting with the most famous Bulgarian TV chef Uti Bachvarov, tasting of the region's signature plum marmalade and more demonstrations and special surprises await all guests of the Bulgarian Plum Festival, promises the deputy mayor of Troyan.

This year the holiday will be even more colorful and fun thanks to new technologies. In the GoTroyan mobile application (available for Android and iOS), an interactive game with augmented reality and many surprises await you.
