A long-awaited comeback is now a reality – 19 years later, D2, one of the most beloved rock bands, is reunited in its original lineup: Dimitar Karnev (guitar), Dicho Hristov (vocals), Alexander Obretenov (bass guitar), Vasil Vutev (drums), and the new addition – Radostin Vasilev, who joins as a vocalist, guitarist and pianist.
Over the past two decades, the idea of Dicho returning as the frontman has been frequently discussed, but it was only last year, after the concert at Hall No 1 of the National Palace of Culture marking the band’s 25th anniversary, that the decision was made that the time had come for this to happen. They band has also reactivated their concert activities with this lineup, and recently released their first new song – "Before You Say No". The lyrics are by Gery Turiyska, and the music and arrangement are the work of the entire band.
This power rock ballad actually dates back to 2004, born during rehearsal sessions in the town of Lom, on the banks of the Danube. Since this song marked the end of D2’s collaboration with Dicho, they chose to return with it — to start again from where they left off. The song has now been completed with an entirely new arrangement and new parts.
''We didn’t need any time to get in sync — we’ve been doing this together since we were kids, and it just comes naturally. Even during these 19 years when we weren’t with Dicho, the band’s path was clear. Our musical direction has always been based solely on our love for music and our understanding of what rock and pop are. I’ve been making music almost the entire time — I have a studio where I work every day. So when we decided to move forward last year, music was the least of our concerns — it was ready, and we’re bringing it to life'', says Mitko Karnev.
