The chairman of We Continue the Change (PP) Assen Vassilev stated, in an interview with bTV, that it is easier to be the sole leader of the party than it is to be in a co-chairmanship with someone else after Kiril Petkov stepped down.
“It is very difficult to be co-chairman if you do not fully trust the person you are co-chairman with. I have known Kiril Petkov since 2005-2006, and we knew we were heading in the same direction, we trusted each other completely,” Assen Vassilev said.
Kiril Petkov stepped down as co-chairman of We Continue the Change (PP) and member of parliament after a corruption Sofia administration scandal involving people from the party. As he resigned, Kiril Petkov stated he was assuming full responsibility for the staff appointments. Two days ago the party’s general assembly elected Assen Vassilev to the post of sole chairman with 100% of the votes. An executive council of the party was also elected, with Assen Vassilev at the head. The coundil does not include key names like Lena Borislavova, Nikola Minchev etc.
