After a meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, Social Minister Borislav Gutsanov said the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy proposed raising the minimum wage to BGN 1,213 (EUR 620) next year, up from EUR 550.68, an increase of EUR 69.54.
No agreement was reached, with the Bulgarian Industrial Capital Association (BICA) and the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce insisting the minimum wage remain unchanged.
“Freezing incomes and refusing to increase the minimum wage in the current situation would be unacceptable. This is not only my personal view, but also that of the entire team at the Ministry of Labour and Social Policy,” the minister told BGNES.
