We are negotiating to strengthen Bulgaria's air defence with funds from allies, Minister of Defence Atanas Zapryanov announced at a hearing at a parliamentary committee.
We have taken preventive actions to strengthen airspace surveillance in the northeast direction, after drones violated the airspace of Poland and Romania during Russian attacks on Ukraine, the minister said.
The drone wall will be composed of subsystems. The concept has not been developed and we are still talking about a political discussion in which the country participates, the minister replied to a question from MPs.
There are no standard systems for counteracting drones. Bulgaria will use the Ukrainian experience. Currently, four types of Bulgarian systems are being developed, Zapryanov also said.
