We want to buy a system that has maximum protection against drones. This does not mean that it has a mechanical effect on the drone, but at least that it has some electromagnetic or blocking control of the device. This was explained to BNT by Maj. Gen. Nikolay Rusev, commander of the Bulgarian Air Force.

Rusev said that there are companies that sell systems to combat drones, but they deal with commercial drones, while for the strike drones that are used for attacks, there is no system developed so far. According to him, fighter jets should not be raised against drones.

According to the general, there are no violations of Bulgaria's airspace. “Rather, what is happening in Bulgarian airspace is the loss of radio communication from transport aircraft, civil aircraft,” the senior military official said.
