A meeting of the coalition partners took place early this morning, during a sitting of the National Assembly, to discuss the possible reformatting of the government. Such a change was first made mention of by GERB leader Boyko Borissov after his party came 6th at the local election in Pazarjik.

The joint governance council is sitting behind closed doors far from any media attention, BNR’s Maria Fileva reports. One of the few things that became clear is that the state budget for next year is one of the items of discussion. GERB MP Delyan Dobrev, who left the council 2 hours later, refused to say whether any accord has been reached on the financial parameters.

MP from DPS-New Beginning Hamid Hamid was noticed entering the building (the formation is not part of the ruling coalition formally but supports the government). Asked whether he is going to take part in the coalition council, Hamid Hamid stated his party leader had said everything there was to say yesterday. In an e-mail to the media, Delyan Peevski announced he had held talks with PM Rosen Zhelyazkov and confirmed his support for the cabinet.

Later, GERB announced on their Facebook page that, together with “There Is Such a People,” they had raised the issue of a rotating presidency of the National Assembly “in the name of shared governance of the state among the three formations in the coalition.”
The post also makes it clear that constructive talks have begun between the partners regarding the 2026 Budget. “Discussions on both topics will continue in the coming days, and the work of the National Assembly will resume tomorrow,” the statement adds.
