Bulgaria’s Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov is convening a working meeting with ministers in connection with the United States’ decision to impose sanctions on Rosneft and Lukoil. The meeting is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Friday. Premier Zhelyazkov will be presented with reports on the matter by the Ministers of Interior, Foreign Affairs, Energy, Finance, Economy, and Justice, as well as by the heads of security services.

On Friday, October 24, Bulgaria’s Parliament is expected to debate a bill that would change the conditions for the sale of the Russian company Lukoil’s subsidiaries in Bulgaria.

On October 23, the Parliamentary Committee on Energy approved at second reading amendments to the Investment Promotion Act, which stipulate that the sale of assets of the Russian company Lukoil in Bulgaria may take place only after a decision by the Council of Ministers and following a positive opinion from the State Agency for National Security.
