After 110 days off the court, Bulgaria's tennis star Grigor Dimitrov has qualified for the second round of the last Masters 1000 tournament of the year in Paris. He defeated the representative of the hosts Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard 7-6 (5), 6-1. The match lasted just over an hour and a half.

Dimitrov had not played since July, when he gave up against Jannick Sinner at Wimbledon when he was two sets ahead and 2:2 in the third against the future champion.

Upon his return to court, Dimitrov managed to impose his will in a tiebreak in the opening part. Grigor, who has been a finalist in the French capital since 2023, when he lost to seven-time champion Novak Djokovic, lost only six first serve points in the entire match and saved all three opportunities to break against the powerful serving Mpetshi Perricard.

In the second round, Dimitrov awaits the winner of the match Jaume Munar - Daniil Medvedev.

"I wanted to give my all when returning to the court, it is always a lot of stress, especially after so many months out of the game. It is difficult against such an opponent. You have to be careful and concentrated all the time, no matter how much experience you have," the winner commented after the match.
