Trade unions in Bulgaria oppose planned minimum wage of 605 euros, prepare protest

The two largest trade unions in Bulgaria - the Confederation of Independent Trade Unions in Bulgaria and the Confederation of Trade Unions "Podkrepa" - are organizing a warning protest in front of the Council of Ministers building. It is planned for October 31 (Friday) before the meeting of the National Council for Tripartite Cooperation, at which the 2026 Budget will be discussed.

The protest is due to the disagreement of the two trade union organizations with the proposed reduction in the planned amount of the minimum wage from the beginning of 2026 and the lack of a state income policy. The protest is expected to start at 9 am.
The draft state budget provides for the minimum wage to be 605 euros, not 620 euros (1213 leva), as set out in the formula in the Code. Currently, the minimum wage in Bulgaria is 1,077 leva, or 550 euros.
