The Bulgarian Academy of Sciences will celebrate the National Enlighteners’ Day today with a ceremonial event and an exhibition, reported BTA. The event will be opened by the Academy’s President, Corresponding Member Evelina Slavcheva. Academician Ivan Granitski will deliver a speech on the topic “The National Revival Leaders and the Spiritual Rebirth of the Homeland.”

In the Academy’s foyer, the Central Library of BAS and the Scientific Archive of BAS will present an exhibition dedicated to the 175th anniversary of the birth of Ivan Vazov. The exhibition will feature over a thousand publications from the library’s collections, along with valuable archival documents—items, letters and poems related to the writer’s life and work.

As part of the ceremony, the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Awards for Journalists and the awards from the Union of Scientists in Bulgaria will be conferred.
