President Radev vetoes changes to the Investment Promotion Act

President Rumen Radev has returned for a new discussion in parliament the adopted legal amendments, according to which the sale of assets of Russian company Lukoil in the country will take place after a decision of the Council of Ministers and a positive opinion of the State Agency for National Security. According to the adopted changes, the agency will provide a written opinion before any transaction of shares of Lukoil in Bulgaria.

In the reasons for the veto, the President points out that the law makes the government operationally dependent on the opinion of SANS, which is constitutionally inadmissible. It is pointed out that the imposition of additional conditions for specific companies is not in line with the requirements of EU law.
