The European Commission has decided to withhold EUR 215 million from the second payment under Bulgaria’s recovery and resilience plan, the EC told the Bulgarian National Radio. The country is to receive EUR 439 million.
Withholding part of the payment is in connection with the failure to fulfil a key stage in the reform of Bulgaria’s anti-corruption commission, the EC says. Bulgaria has 6 months to fulfil this key stage. The Commission will maintain an active dialogue with the authorities in Sofia to ensure the necessary support.
