Six migrants died after the car transporting them overturned on the shore of Lake Vaya near Burgas. Before the accident, the traffickers’ car had been chased by border police between the towns of Kiten and Burgas. The driver of the car — a Romanian national — survived and has been detained for questioning. Three migrants were injured and taken to the regional hospital.
When the traffickers’ car reached the entrance to Burgas, the driver hit another vehicle, forcing it off the road at the checkpoint in the “Poda” area. During the continued chase, the police used a spike strip to stop the vehicle. The car carrying the illegal migrants overturned and fell into the lake.
