Bulgaria boosts security of Lukoil's properties and offices in the country

Bulgaria is strengthening land, water and air security (including with a drone protection system) at Lukoil's sites on its territory, the government press service announced. The State Agency for National Security (SANS) entered the offices of Lukoil companies in the country and the refinery in Burgas and began inspections.

Minister of Economy Petar Dilov assured that Bulgaria will receive an exemption from US sanctions for Lukoil’s refinery, similar to what Hungary managed to do.

"The situation between Hungary and Bulgaria is very different, as Hungary works with Russian oil and does not have the technical ability to supply anything other than it. We have not worked with Russian oil for more than a year. We want a derogation from these sanctions to continue the operation of the refinery. And I am absolutely sure that we will receive it," the minister told bTV.
