Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov said that the state’s representative at Lukoil could include more than one appointed manager, in line with upcoming legal changes. He added that the names of the candidates for special manager or managers would be announced as soon as the relevant legislation comes into force.
Zhelyazkov explained that the actions of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) at Lukoil’s Bulgarian companies are preventive measures intended to protect critical infrastructure. These actions were prompted by incidents at Russian companies elsewhere in Europe.

“We will ensure compliance with the sanctions and their main goal — that not one cent goes to funding the war in Ukraine,” Zhelyazkov said.

He emphasised that, since the introduction of US sanctions on Russia's largest private oil company, there has been constant contact with the US Departments of the Treasury, Energy, and State.

The prime minister was adamant that the country's fuel supplies are guaranteed.
