The Bulgarian national football team won 2–1 against Georgia in the final match of the World Cup qualifiers in Group E. Georgi Rusev opened the score in the 10th minute. In the 24th minute, Filip Krastev scored Bulgaria’s second goal. Luka Lochoshvili scored for Georgia in the 88th minute.
Bulgaria recorded its first and last 3 points in the group, and finished 4th in its group. Both teams have no chance of qualifying for the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico. For Bulgaria, this is the first win in 12 months, which helped avoid a negative record dating back 91 years.
