President Rumen Radev again calls for a referendum on the introduction of the euro

With 128 votes in favour, the governing majority in Parliament and three independent MPs rejected the president’s veto on the Law on Defence and the Armed Forces.

The amendments expand the possibilities for declaring a state of emergency and activating the armed forces in the event of war. They introduce the option to use weapons against drones during the protection and defense of military facilities.

President Rumen Radev stated that MPs must comply with the request he submitted in May for a referendum on the euro, after the Constitutional Court ruled in favor of allowing it to be considered. The Constitutional Court's decision is “a victory of the rule of law over the arbitrariness of the political class.” These decisions are binding, Radev said, describing the Parliament’s latest decision as a new violation of the law.
