BNB: Bulgaria posts strong FDI inflows from Netherlands, Italy, Greece; outflows led by U.S.

Foreign direct investment (FDI)  in Bulgaria posted the largest net inflows from the Netherlands, Italy and Greece in the first half of 2025, the Bulgarian National Bank (BNB) said.

Net FDI inflows totalled €554.9 million from the Netherlands, €325.2 million from Italy and €317.1 million from Greece. The biggest net outflows were to the United States at €150.5 million and Luxembourg at €76.5 million, the central bank said in its latest report.

The BNB also reported a €15.9 million net outflow of foreign investment in Bulgarian real estate in January–September 2025, compared with a €7.1 million net outflow in the same period of 2024.
