The share of foreign students in Bulgaria has more than doubled in the last decade. In 2013, they were nearly 4 percent while in 2025 their number reaches 9% of active students. This is indicated by the annual Ranking of Higher Education Institutions in the country. For yet another year, the share of foreign students is the largest in the fields of "Medicine" - 59%, in "Dental Medicine" - 48 percent and "Veterinary Medicine" - 33%. In another 5 professional fields foreign students are over 10%. These are "Pharmacy" - 16 percent, "Tourism" - 14%, "Transport, Shipping and Aviation" - 12%, "Music and Dance Art" – 12%, while in "Theory and Management of Education" they are 11%.
61% of graduates in the country in the past 5 years are working in positions for which they studied, compared to 46% in 2014. Unemployment among graduates is slightly over 2%. 14% have gone to work abroad, compared to over 25% in 2014. The highest monthly incomes of over 3550 euros are received by graduates of "Informatics and Computer Science" at Sofia University.
