“Solutions for achieving peace in Ukraine must be based on fundamental principles of the UN Charter, such as sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.” This was stated by Bulgarian Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev at the informal video conference of EU foreign ministers dedicated to the Russian military aggression against Ukraine, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced.
Minister Georgiev expressed high appreciation for the efforts of the United States, but also pointed out that achieving lasting solutions required the participation and agreement of both Ukraine and the EU on issues that directly concern us, in the spirit of transatlantic cooperation. He added that common support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia must continue.
The ministers discussed the latest developments, support for the efforts of the United States, as well as the role and interests of the EU in achieving a lasting, just and comprehensive peace in Ukraine. The video conference also discussed the various instruments to assist Ukraine, as well as continuing the sanctions pressure on Russia.
