A solemn liturgy at the Saint Trinity Church in the village of Assenovo, Pleven region, Central Northern Bulgaria, gave the start to the Second International Festival of Banat Bulgarians. Hundreds of them arrived for the event, as well as their guests from Bulgaria, Romania, Italy, Spain, Germany and other countries. One of the ideas of the festival is to demonstrate traditional food made in the Banat way, as well as the traditions of other Bulgarian villages that have sent guests to the festival. The participants believe that preserving authentic food is one way to keep tradition alive. The festival continued with folk songs and dances.
