The Bulgarian state has many ambassadors across the world but the Bulgarian people have few real ambassadors and these are persons like Prof. Michael Bar-Zohar, said Bulgarian President Rumen Radev as he conferred Stara Planina Order First Class on Bulgaria-born world-acclaimed Israeli writer, historian and politician.
The distinction is given for merits in the popularization of the rescue of Bulgarian Jews during World War II and for the development of bilateral relations between Bulgaria and Israel.
President Rumen Radev pointed out that the Israeli historian who left Bulgaria at age 10 in 1948, has remained a paragon of a genuine Bulgarian patriot.
