The month of March kicked off with a music marathon – a series of concerts at Bulgaria Hall dedicated to Bulgaria’s national day, March 3. The start was given by the brass band of the National Guard Unit with conductor Radi Radev and soloists Edelina Kaneva, Orlin Goranov, Vassil Petrov, Vanya Kostova, Boyan Mihailov, Maya Neshkova, Orlin Pavlov, Dessy Dobreva, the Children’s Choir of the Bulgarian National Radio, Kikimora rock band. On March 3, the doors of Bulgaria Hall were thrown open to music lovers from 11 AM until 9 PM. In that time the public was able to hear performances by the Sofia Philharmonic, the Svetoslav Obretenov philharmonic choir, the Cosmic Voices choir, the Philip Koutev National Folklore Ensemble, Pim-Pam children’s vocal group and many more.
Today, March 8 is international women’s day and the band Atlas will be playing especially for the ladies at Studio 5 of the National Palace of Culture. The musicians are presenting their new project featuring cover versions of world hits – Ed Shereen’s Grammy-winning Thinking out Loud, Avicii with their Wake Me Up, as well as brand new songs by Atlas, among them The Two of Us, Again and Again and Again, included in the CD due to be released in the autumn of this year.
The young Bulgarian band In Between is also marking women’s day – it is one year to the day since they recorded their first song, and also singer-songwriter Anna-Maria’s birthday. The band celebrated at Dada club with an unplugged concert for friends and fans of their music with a repertoire of in-between songs – pop, rock and punk. The three members of the band – Anna-Maria and the twins Angel and Vassil Tonkin – are original, interesting and inventive and have found a music niche all their own. In April they will be playing their music at Studio 5 – a venue for avant-garde art for years.
The latest song by Mastilo (ink) Just You and Me now has a video that has been growing more and more popular in social networks. Singer Vicky Terziyska dedicated the song to her partner in life Petar just two months after their baby was born. She is author of the lyrics, as well as the music together with Desislav Danchev. The music project is produced by Krassimir Todorov. The video of Just You and Me, directed by Tsvetomir Matev, features flash-backs to the band’s 2015 tour called Take Another Look at Me.
