Tsvetana Pironkova starts Indian Wells with victory

Bulgaria’s best female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova scored a victory in the first round of Indian Wells tennis tournament with a total prize fund of USD 6.8 million. Pironkova defeated 6:2; 7:5 Donna Vekic (Croatia). Vekic places 94th in the WTA tennis rankings, while Tsvetana Pironkova currently occupies the 105th position in the rankings. Thus, Tsveti earned USD 19,530 of the prize fund and 35 points for the WTA rankings. She is to face in the second round No 12 seeded Timea Bacsinszky from Switzerland.
