Sofianites who have always wanted to visit London can now feel its spirit without leaving Sofia, at the London Week in the capital city. For a second year in a row the atmosphere of the British capital is transferred to Bulgaria. Tea demonstrations, gin & tonic, street dancing and British music: this is what the London Week offers to the enjoyment of the people of Sofia. And there is more – those who love tattoos are welcome to be tattooed by London artist Mr. Heggie, and then try a gourmet burger. The seven-day festival is on from 27 June to 3 July.
Street dancers B-Boy Mouse & R-Qi-Tek have already tried the tiles in Vitosha St. downtown Sofia with their slightly weird dancing that includes a lot of head rolling. Ereson Catipon (B-Вoy Mouse) is one of the big names on the international breakdance scene. After devoting ten years to improve his funky style, Mouse won the world B-boy championships. This year in Sofia he dances together with Amiir The R-Qi-Tek.
The London atmosphere cannot probably be truly authentic without a glass of gin and tonic for onlookers so the cocktail is on offer just meters away from the dancing area. Many Brits have arrived to make sure the London Week in Sofia is held properly. Music lovers this week enjoy the performances of Lewis Mctie (a street musician), Djambo Basch (house music) and Catherine Tarrant (ukulele and guitar).
A few blocks away from the gin party tattooist Mr. Heggie is working hard to beautify the guys who have trust in his magic needles. The illustrator is a graduate of fine arts and has so far more than 35,000 followers on Instagram. His drawings are often sarcastic as he often depicts crazy animals or cartoon characters. Mr. Heggie is involved in a charity project. Money from his tattoos with cats are allocated to saving homeless cats.
