Bulgarian Foreign Minister Mitov meets Russian counterpart Lavrov

Within the framework of the 34th meeting of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of member states of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation, taking place in Sochi, Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov has met his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The two ministers discussed topical issues of bilateral relations, including trade and economic cooperation. A number of international and regional issues were also topics of the discussion. On the topic of energy cooperation between the two countries, which was discussed during the meeting, Minister Mitov said it was clear that energy projects between Russia and the EU would have to develop. This energy cooperation, however, should happen according to European rules, the minister added. This has been the first meeting between Bulgarian and Russian Foreign Ministers for two years.
