After a meeting in Belgrade last night, the Serbian cabinet came to a decision to send joint teams of police and military to patrol the area around the border checkpoints with Bulgaria and Macedonia.
The task of the military and police forces will be to stop migrants from crossing over from the territories of the two countries and to hand human traffickers operating on the territory of Serbia over to the judicial authorities, reads a brief press release by the cabinet. After Hungary tightened control of its borders, the number of migrants entering Serbia went up considerably. Most of them cross over from Bulgaria, the authorities in Belgrade say.
