A US delegation including representatives of partner companies, the Pentagon and the Program for Purchase of Non-standard Equipment and Ammunition visited Sopot Machine Building Plant, which is the largest machine-building company in Bulgaria. Bulgaria is a loyal NATO member and a responsible manufacturer of high-quality weapons. The long-term partnership with the USA is very important to us, Bulgaria’s Minister of Economy Bozhidar Loukarsky pointed out at the meeting with the US delegation. The Bulgarian defense industry has a serious production capacity. The USA relies on high-quality ammunition produced in Bulgaria, the Project Manager of Maneuver Ammunition Systems, PEO Ammunition, Colonel Moises Gutierrez said. In his words, this ammunition is extremely important for the missions held in Afghanistan and Iraq and the fight against the Islamic State, adding that the partnership with Bulgaria was of key significance to the US government.
