Bulgaria’s Premier Boyko Borissov is to become the country’s new national coordinator of the Bulgarian Presidency of the Council of the European Union scheduled for the first half of 2018. Previously Bulgaria’s Deputy Premier Meglena Kuneva was in that position. In a report Bulgaria’s Premier explained that the change was due to the fact that Bulgaria’s Presidency of the EU Council was pulled six months ahead of schedule. Maglena Kuneva is to coordinate the team and the logistics of Bulgaria’s Presidency of the Council of the EU. Deputy Premier Tomislav Donchev will be coordinator for infrastructure and buildings. Deputy Premier Rumiana Bachvarova will be coordinator for security and will work in cooperation with the head of the National Service for Protection. Finance Minister Vladislav Goranov, Minister of Foreign Affairs Daniel Mitov and Minister of Culture Vezhdi Rashidov will coordinate the budget necessary for Bulgaria’s Presidency of the European Union Council, as well as the communication strategy, the cultural program and the main priorities during that period.
