Bulgaria and Russia agree on Belene NPP arbitration court ruling

Energy Minister Temenuzhka Petkova has announced that the Bulgarian and the Russian side have signed an agreement on the definitive enforcement of the Court of Arbitration ruling on Belene NPP. 

The Bulgarian National Electric Company (NEC) will pay the sums under the arbitration court ruling in full by15 December. In exchange, the Russian Atomstroyexport company will forego the interest NEC owes it since the date of the court ruling – 167,000 euro per day or a total of 23 million euro until 15 December. Kirill Komarov, First Deputy Director General of the Russian Rosatom commented that this year Russia and Bulgaria mark 50 years since the establishment of relations in the nuclear sphere and that throughout that time they have maintained admirable cooperation.
