Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov told the Bulgarian National Radio that developments on the Turkish-Iraqi border represented a direct threat to Bulgaria as a country close to the conflict. The situation is very complicated given that the problem is not between Turkey and Iraq alone but is a matter of global problems and interests. Sofia is worried not only over Turkish-Iraqi but also overTurkish-Syrian and Russian-US tensions in Syria, because a war in that region directly concerns Bulgaria, Prime Minister Borissov also said. He made his statement on the occasion of the transfer of extra Turkish tanks and military equipment to the border with Iraq and the accusation of Iraqi PM Al-Abadi that this was a preparation for an invasion of his country.
