On Tuesday Bulgaria’s printed media focus again on last week’s riot at the migrant center in Harmanli. Trud daily informs that Bulgarian policemen will face pre-trial proceedings, which, according to the Trade Union Federation of the Employees of the Ministry of Interior, is illegal. Sega daily writes on its first pages that nationals of Afghanistan, Iraq and Pakistan who fail to receive a refugee status will be accommodated at closed-type migrant centers from now on. The Bulgarian authorities are planning to build new migrant centers and expand the capacity of the existing ones. Haskovo District Governor announced that the authorities are to count the Afghani migrants before repatriating them to their country. Apparently, the authorities do not know the exact number of those nationals, Sega daily further comments.

The Commission of Illegal Assets Forfeiture will spend from now on 10% of the total value of the confiscated assets, Sega daily informs on its first pages. On Monday it became clear that the commission is expected to confiscate assets to the tune of over EUR 10 million by the end of 2016. Therefore, the budget of that commission will increase significantly, the newspaper further writes.

In October 2016 the number of Bulgarians travelling to Greece and Turkey decreased by 30%, Dnevnik daily informs on Thursday. The number of Bulgarian nationals travelling abroad saw a 1.3 decrease last month. However, the number of Bulgarian nationals traveling to Romania, Serbia, Germany and the UK has increased, the newspaper informs.

Football stewards are to replace Bulgaria’s police at the Bulgarian football stadiums, Monitor daily informs. This amendment is part of the 2016-2018 priority plan of the Bulgarian National Council on Crime Prevention.

The Bulgarian authorities launched an investigation into contested public procurement order regarding the supply of provisions to canteens at Bulgarian prisons, amounting to over EUR 2 million, Capital daily informs. The newspaper points out that some businessmen who are investigated over frauds with EU funds are possibly behind the company that won the public procurement order.
