Yordan Karadjov about his album “C’est la vie” and upcoming projects in 2017

Five years ago, Yordan Karadjov, frontman of the band Signal released his first solo album. Throughout his 39-year long career with one of the most successful rock bands in Bulgaria, he had dedicated his efforts to Signal entirely. That is why it was such a surprise when he released a solo project. How did it come about?

Снимка“I had had an idea to put a solo album together for a long time, but it was only in 2012 that the occasion came up – my 60th birthday. I coordinated my decision to make an album with my colleagues and friends and they gave me their support. The album was a success and got really good press. At the same time I had a big concert in Hall No. 1 of the National Palace of Culture. But as we all know, all good things come in time, and perhaps now is the right time for this project to take on a life of its own and reach audiences more adequately. During that period, together with Signal, we had two extensive concert tours of USA and several concerts in London. In 2015 and in 2016 we did two big tours of Europe – we played in France, Germany, Spain, Austria.”

The album includes nine songs, recorded together with Krassimir Gyulmezov.

What’s on the agenda for Signal in 2017? Yordan Karadjov:

“We are currently working on a concert that will be called “Signal – utterly unknown”, to take place on 12 March in Hall No. 1 of the National Palace of Culture. We shall play around 35 songs – songs that our fans know well but have never before heard live. I hope it will be a big success. Yassen Velchev from Te band will be on the keyboards, I have also invited my daughter, singer Lora Karadjova and we shall perform Suzi Quatro and Chris Norman’s “Smoke from a distant fire” together. LaTiDa will also be taking part as a vocal band and, together with Konstantin Tsekov from the FSB, I shall be performing a song called “The end”. Together with the band we will be doing several concerts in Greece, in the autumn we shall again be touring London. Later, in October we’ll go on a European tour. Of course, we will also be playing in Bulgaria, in different towns. We can never abandon our audience which has never abandoned us and has kept us going all these years.”

The audio file features the songs:

- Do you hear?

- C’est la vie;

- The power of love’

- Nia.
