Bulgaria has the necessary capacity to manufacture warships and specialized infantry equipment, Bulgaria’s Minister of Defense Krasimir Karakachanov told BNR on Sunday. Those ships and machinery must be built in Bulgaria so that the money paid by the country’s taxpayers remain in Bulgaria. Thus, new jobs will be opened and more money will come back to the state budget, Minister Karakachanov went on to say. The Bulgarian military industry has the potential to repair and manufacture military equipment. We can build patrol ships and prepare the manufacture of armored vehicles. Bulgaria cannot afford to buy too expensive fighter jets such as F-35 for instance, Krasimir Karakachanov pointed out.
